At 15, I tried heroin out
of curiosity and was hooked. I was unable to kick the habit although I knew it
was harmful. For 30 years I wallowed in drugs until a life-changing event
happened.
While imprisoned for my
drug offences in 2006, I attended an Intensive Christian Counselling course.
That was when I suddenly had a stroke. As a result I was unable to care
for myself and I became totally dependent on nurses even for simple tasks like
drinking and walking. I was devastated! One day
an African pastor came to the prison and held a Gospel conference. With
his encouragement, I accepted Christ. I then stood up in faith and, to
everyone’s amazement, I was able to walk all the way back to my prison cell
without using my crutches!
I came to Breakthrough in
2009 but after 5 years I was lured away by the glittering world. I wanted to
live and enjoy a life that I fancied. However, my health deteriorated very
quickly soon after. I realised my foolishness and repented my sins. I returned
to Breakthrough like a prodigal son in 2014. Since then I have been walking in
God’s way and staying away from bad influences. I apologised sincerely to my
loved ones I had hurt. As a Breakthrough staff, I accompany the brothers for
their medical appointments and am in charge of the sales of Breakthrough gifts
and bonsai plants.
May the Lord richly bless
my life and multiply my gifts so that I would be used for Him.
