Leaders' and Staff Testimonies I attended a Christian
primary school and was attracted to the Gospel since young. In my 20s, I gave
my life to Christ at the Billy Graham Crusade and later served in church as a
youth fellowship counsellor. Being an outstanding table tennis player, I was
recruited as a training partner in the national women’s team. Everything looked
good for me on the surface and I appeared to have fervour for the Lord too. But
I only realise now, 40 years on, that it was all God’s mercy and grace for I
became addicted to drugs. I committed crimes to satisfy my drug craving. I
tried to rely on my own strength to overcome the intense urges but failed every
time. I only experienced the real power of trusting and relying on God for
victory and real spiritual growth after I joined Breakthrough in 2014.
At Breakthrough, I serve
in the furniture restoration department. Each piece of restored furniture
reveals my spiritual state - whether I am trying to garner praises for myself
or I am giving glory to God!
I am encouraged by the
willing and whole-hearted service of the other staff and I want to be like
them. At the same time I need to constantly remind myself to flee from sin,
walk right in Christ and do what pleases God.
